Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, popularly known as GCT Coimbatore, is a state-funded Engineering college that was established in 1945. Formerly known as Arthur Hope College of Technology, the college is affiliated with Anna University and accredited by the NBA and the NAAC with a Grade “A”.
The Engineering college offers 29 courses, 9 UG and 11 PG programmes, along with MS and PhD programmes. GCT Coimbatore is supported by World Bank Funding under TEQIP with two centres of excellence within the college.
In 2019, college got 90 rank all India in the Engineering category by NIRF, MHRD. It also received a certificate from the India Book of Records for the National symposium. It is also one of the participating institutions in the Quality Enhancement programme in Engineering Education of the Department of Higher Education, MHRD.
The College campus has greenery all around with hundreds of trees planted all over. The institute has well-established and well-equipped state-of-art laboratories. The infrastructure also includes excellent computer labs with the latest tools and software with a 100 Mbps high-speed Wi-Fi-enabled internet connection. Hostel facility is available for both men and women in which 1,500 students can easily be accommodated.

2. ALAGAPPA CHETTIAR GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, KARAIKUDI
Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, [ACCET] was established by Dr.RM.Alagappa Chettiar in Karaikudi in the year 1952. The college initially started with three engineering course viz. Civil, Electrical and Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering. The college is permanently affiliated to Anna University.
The college was founded by Alagappa Chettiar Educational Trust with the aim of providing quality education in the backward area of Karaikudi. The institution was handed over to Govt. of Tamil Nadu in the year 1966 and is now one among the 6 government engineering colleges in the state. Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology Admissions takes place either by offline or online mode. The college infrastructure facilities include a vast campus of 218.55 acres, central library, administrative blocks, laboratories, R and D center, auditorium, medical facility, bank facility, post office and many more.
The college apart from academics also supports and encourages students in cultural, social, extracurricular activities. The ACCET has a dedicated placement cell for recruitment of students.

3. GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, SALEM
Government College of Engineering, Salem was started during the Third Five Year plan in the year 1966 and is located on a beautiful 162 hectares site surrounded by hills. This was then the third government engineering institution in Tamil nadu.
The first batch of students was selected for the academic year 1966-1967 for courses in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering. In the year 1973 – 74, the Metallurgical Engineering branch was started. Electronics and Communication branch was introduced in the year 1985 – 86. Computer Science engineering course was introduced in the year 2001

Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli was established in the year 1981. GCE Tirunelveli campus is spread over 55 acres of land. It is a government co-educational institution. Government College of Engineering Tirunelveli is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and DOTE. Total 55 faculty members are available at the campus and the total student enrollment is 1890. Government College of Engineering is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. Tamil Nadu Government has announced the proposal for Government College of Engineering, Sengipatti, Thanjavur during the finance year 2012-2013. And it has been running from August 2013 in Palace campus, Thanjavur. The permanent building for our institute has been built completely for 31046.8 sq feet at the cost of 49.38 crores. Our college has been located on 35.73 acres. Our institution consists of 30 classrooms, 35 laboratories and 5 workshops. Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai is one of the recent institutions in Tamilnadu . It was started in 2012 with its temporary building at Kalapandiyan Polytechnic College, Sillamarathupatti, Bodinayakkanur.
The permanent building of Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakkanur was inaugurated by then Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Dr.J.Jayalalitha on 12-06-2015 through Video Conferencing for the welfare of western part of Tamilnadu students. It covers an area of 10.06 acres.
The college is located at the heart of the “Cardamom City” proudly called as the city of “South Kashmir” by the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru. GCE, Bodinayakkanur was started with five under graduate courses namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electricals & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering each with an intake of 60 students. At present GCE, Bodinayakkanur is successfully functioning with a total number of 1131 students. They are excellently taught and trained by more than 50 permanent Professors. Government College of Engineering, Dharmapuri was started in 2013, a fruition of the far reaching vision of Dr.J.Jayalalitha, Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (vide G.O Ms. No.11, dated 30.1.2013).The institution is one of the Government engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu and is located at the foothills of thickly forested hillocks on a sprawling land area in Chettikarai, Dharmapuri.
The institution, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, offers Undergraduate courses in the following streams of engineering.

Departments have not only established themselves but also equipped their laboratories sufficiently to cater to the needs of the various undergraduate programs that are offered. Computer facilities with the Internet Connectivity are available in all the departments. A state of art E- Smart Class rooms are available for each and every department which will mix technology and experience to make the student learning a wonderful and delightful experience.
